Leicester City can repeat Arsenal's William Saliba transfer trick with £29.4m defender move

Leicester City look set to follow Arsenal's lead in the transfer market.

According to L'Equipe, the Foxes are said to have increased their bid for Wesley Fofana to €32 million.

Though, they may need to do so again with the report claiming former Leicester boss Claude Puel has swiftly rejected the offer.

The move might sound familiar to Arsenal fans whose club also did some shopping at Saint-Etienne when it comes to defenders.

Arsenal signed centre-back William Saliba from the Ligue 1 club for around £27 million in 2019 before loaning him back for a season.

Saliba returned to Saint-Etienne last season for a loan spell, making 12 league appearances, though the French leagues were curtailed due to coronavirus.

The 19-year-old looks to have an exciting future ahead, given the number 4 ahead of his first real season actually with the Gunners.

Leicester are now looking to follow Arsenal's lead with the signing of Fofana, who is also 19 years of age, and set to command a similar fee.

Fofana is a Saint-Etienne academy graduate and he has already racked up 19 league appearances.

Though, it seems Leicester will need to convince former boss Puel if they want to get the deal done ahead of the October 5 deadline.
