Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers addresses Manchester United manager situation

Brendan Rodgers has distanced himself from the vacant Manchester United manager job, saying speculation linking his name to the job is 'not real.'

Rodgers was touted as a potential replacement for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer prior to his dismissal last weekend.

United have placed Michael Carrick in temporary charge of the first team until they can find an interim manager until the end of the season, at which point they will hire a long-term replacement.

Speaking before his side's Europa League game against Legia Warsaw, Rodgers dismissed any notion of him leaving the Foxes as gossip.

“I don’t take it as anything. It’s not real. There’s always gossip and that will be there until they appoint a full-time manager. My commitment is to here.

"The culture here is about the development of the players, and that’s where I see it, even more so in this period.

"I respect you guys have stories to do and to create a narrative, but that doesn’t include me.”

The MEN understands that Mauricio Pochettino would be willing to leave PSG mid-season and take up the vacant role in the Old Trafford dugout.

However, PSG have rejected an initial approach for the former Tottenham Hotspur boss and the club are looking at Ralf Rangnick as a potential interim boss alongside a number of other options.
