Leicester City announce £18m transfer that could affect Arsenal and Hector Bellerin

Leicester City have announced the signing of Timothy Castagne, in a deal that could have an impact on Arsenal.

According to the Guardian, the fee taking the Belgium international to the King Power Stadium is thought to be £18m as the Foxes have dipped into the £50m they received from Chelsea for Ben Chilwell last month.

And the defender is delighted to have made a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal's next move after Gabriel

"I'm feeling really good," Castagne told the club's official website. "I heard a lot of good things about the Club, so I'm very happy.

"Without a question, I'm very excited. I saw already a few members of the staff and they already told me that the group is fantastic, so I'm looking forward to it.

"Mentally, I'm ready. Of course, I will need some help, you know, from the manager, from everybody, but I'm very excited. It's the best league in the in the world, so I really want to do well."

In joining City, it means Ligue 1 champions Paris Saint-Germain have missed out on signing the defender.

Last season's Champions League finalists have been linked to a number of right-backs following the departure of Thomas Meunier to Borussia Dortmund, and reports in France claimed earlier in the week that they were in contact with Castagne.

But following the 24-year-old's move to Leicester, PSG can now erase Castagne's name from their shortlist.

So who will PSG turn to next?

Well, they are interested in Gunners defender Hector Bellerin who could be open to a summer transfer and may speed up negotiations after making an opening bid of £25m.

football.london understands that he reluctantly finds himself asking whether another rebuild at the Emirates Stadium, even one helmed by Mikel Arteta, is the right place to be for his prime.

Furthermore, Arsenal could demand up to £35million for Bellerin, although in the current market they may have to settle for nearer to £30million.

And that possible cash injection would boost Arteta's hopes of bolstering his squad ahead of deadline day.

Thomas Partey and Houssem Aouar continue to be linked with moves to the Emirates, and raising funds will be key to the Gunners signing at least one.
