Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers issues Cristiano Ronaldo warning ahead of Manchester United clash

Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers has warned his players of the threat that Cristiano Ronaldo will carry when they welcome Manchester United to the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Fresh from the international break, United will travel to the Midlands looking to get their Premier League title charge back on track after seeing it hit the buffers ahead of the two-week hiatus.

The Reds, who failed to win any of their three clashes with Leicester last season, losing two and drawing one, picked up just one point from back-to-back home games against both Aston Villa and Everton.

The 1-1 draw with Everton saw United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, surprisingly, drop Ronaldo, who returned to the club during the summer transfer window, to the bench, sparking no shortage of criticism, especially when considering that the five-time Ballon d'Or winner had scored five goals in five games prior to the clash with the Toffees.

Expected to return to the starting line-up against the Foxes, Rodgers has warned his players about the Portuguese talisman, insisting that despite his personal game having altered, he will "bring goals" to the party.

As quoted by LeicestershireLive, Rodgers said: "They have quality players. Ole will have them motivated. You’re looking to win every single game.

"Marcus Rashford coming back is a huge player for them. Jadon Sancho is adapting but has big quality. Cristiano Ronaldo is one of the greatest to have played the game and is an incredible role model.

"His game has changed but he always brings goals. They’ve always been very good in transition."

Ronaldo is unlikely to be the only change that Solskjaer opts to make to his starting line-up, with the likes of Paul Pogba and the returning Rashford poised to be knocking on the door of the starting line-up.

Pogba was also dropped to the bench against Everton and is likely to return to the starting line-up, quite possibly in place of the absent Fred.
