Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers hoping to continue formidable cup streak against Aston Villa after Celtic run

Brendan Rodgers is hoping to repeat his cup heroics at Celtic with Leicester as his side look to put one foot in the Carabao Cup Final on Wednesday night.

Rodgers is on a 30-game unbeaten run in domestic cup competitions, with his last defeat coming in 2015 when he was Liverpool manager.

Since then, the 46-year-old has enjoyed brilliant success with Celtic, winning two Scottish Cups and three Scottish League Cups and he wants to enjoy similar success with Leicester.

“We went on an incredible run [at Celtic] and the players there were so focused, so intent on winning,” said Rodgers ahead of the first leg of their semi-final against Aston Villa.

“They suffered in that period as well but were always able to get through it. It was fantastic.

“Then, we come to here with the same idea. We look to win every game and see where it can take us. The players in the cup competitions so far have been absolutely brilliant.”
