Probably like many of you who clicked on this article, I’ve been building LEGO Star Wars sets for years. My shelves are crammed with more starfighters, droids and minifigures than I care to admit. But now that LEGO has finally revealed availability information for the long-rumored 9,023-piece Death Star UCS set,
I fear I’d trade my entire collection for this one mega-set.
Considering the LEGO Star Wars Death Star Ultimate Collector Series (75419) costs $999.99, I might need to put some of my old sets up on eBay to afford it.
At face value (a.k.a not counting the value of rare vintage LEGO sets,) this is officially the most expensive LEGO set on record. The piece-count also makes it the largest, and it divides out to 11.1 cents per piece. In case you were curious, this price per piece value is within the typical range for licensed LEGO sets.
LEGO Star Wars Death Star 2025: Release date, gifts with purchase
The LEGO Star Wars Death Star is available via Early Access for LEGO Insiders on October 1. Creating a LEGO Insiders account is free for users 18 years or older at LEGO.com.
General availability (including in-stores) starts on October 4.
From October 1–7, anyone who buys the set will score a free LEGO Star Wars TIE Fighter with Imperial Hangar Rack, while supplies last.
LEGO Insiders will also get a limited-edition numbered poster (only 5,000 exist worldwide) and the chance to win a Death Star signed by lead designer César Carvalhosa Soares through a points-based sweepstakes.
Members can also earn up to $50 in rewards points with their purchase.
LEGO Star Wars Death Star 2025: What to expect
This Death Star is basically a diorama of the greatest hits album of the original Star Wars trilogy. There’s the trash compactor scene, the retractable bridge Luke and Leia swing across, Palpatine’s throne room and even the hangar bay, complete with an Imperial shuttle.
As for the minifigs, we get 38 in total. Luke appears in both Jedi and stormtrooper disguises, Leia and Han are here, Darth Vader looms, and Palpatine is watching it all unfold. There’s even a stormtrooper in a hot tub, because LEGO knows how to sneak in a wink to fans of the LEGO Star Wars video games.
Honestly, I don’t know if I’ve ever wanted a LEGO set this badly. This Death Star makes everything else ever released in this theme feel like practice. Yes, it costs a fortune, but staring at all 9,023 pieces laid out through the images above, I can’t help but think my years of collecting are pointless if this set isn't in the mix. Good thing I have a couple of weeks to start saving.
