Despite the movie coming out last year, you can't keep a good robot down; Lego has revealed a new HERBIE model based on the Fantastic Four's MCU debut.
This kit is 9 inches of adorable retro futurism, and like many of the best Lego sets (not to mention newcomers such as the first ever Lego Shrek), it's a larger 'figure' with fully posable features rather than a small model. In other words, Lego HERBIE should be a good fit for play or display.
At 747 pieces, this model (which is up for pre-order now ahead of an August 1 release date) is a really good middle-ground between more involved display kits and easy-going playsets. HERBIE features highly articulated arms and fingers for holding its coffee and screwdriver accessories, along with a posable head. This hides one of the coolest features of the model; when the head moves, the tape recorder eyes spin just like in the movie.
Lego's been on a roll recently with its full-size character kits like Lego Luigi, but if you ask me, it does its best work on robotic characters. As demonstrated by Lego C-3PO and Lego R2-D2, their more angular nature translates really well to brick-built models; it avoids the uncanny valley this size of figure can sometimes run into (cough, Chewbacca, cough). And for me, HERBIE is one of the best to date. It absolutely nails the retro-futuristic design while remaining distinctly 'Lego' at the same time.
The fact that the tape recorder eyes spin automatically when the head moves is just the cherry on top. I wasn't expecting that level of interactivity from a $75/£60 kit, so Lego HERBIE just made its way onto my wishlist.
HERBIE will be available on August 1, 2026, but you can pre-order it now ahead of launch.
