Lego cards return to Sainsbury's and here's how to get some for free

In news set to bring more cheer to young ones as they make a return to the classroom, Sainsbury's has announced the return of its Lego cards.

The craze which has captivated kids around the country has proved a top seller at the grocery chain where they were last on sale in 2018, when a whopping 400m were snapped up in just six weeks, previously earning it top toy status.

Now the store, whose branches across the region includes Team Valley, Gosforth, Throckley and Shiremoor, has revealed that the Lego cards and collectors album will be back - exclusively at Sainsbury's - on September 16 for a six week period.

They will be available both in stores and online and savvy shoppers might like to know that there also will be a free gift of a pack of four cards given for every £10 spent.

And super-fans will be able to boost their collection by buying extra packs for 50p.

There will be 40 cards to collect in total and for those wanting to show them off the album will be on sale for £2.50.

The store says that the aim of the album is to "inspire and educate" children about different foods from around the world, and this year its theme will take children on a journey to discover where on the planet different ingredients come from.

In the company of Lego characters Lily and Sam, children will follow the album's seven chapters, each focusing upon a different continent.

Mark Given, chief marketing officer for Sainsbury’s said that both the cards and album have proved "incredibly popular" in the past with children and adults alike.

He added: "It’s important to teach children about nutrition and healthy eating from a young age so we can’t wait for our latest release, helping bring the importance of food and diet to life in a really fun and creative way.”
