Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea LIVE!
Chelsea may already have booked their place in the semi-finals of the Conference League with a commanding victory over Legia Warsaw on Thursday night. The Blues recovered from a stodgy first-half showing and defied a hostile home atmosphere in the Polish capital to seal a huge lead to take back to Stamford Bridge for next week’s last-eight second-leg clash at Stamford Bridge.
19-year-old academy graduate Tyrique George opened the scoring less than five minutes after the interval as he reacted quickest to slot in the rebound after a Reece James effort was saved, followed by Noni Madueke - a half-time replacement for Cole Palmer - twice netting after twice being teed up by Jadon Sancho, his second goal coming just 25 seconds after a disappointing Christopher Nkunku penalty had been saved by Kacper Tobiasz following Patryk Kun’s foul on Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall.
Enzo Maresca’s side can be forgiven for now casting one eye ahead to the semi-finals, where either Swedish team Djurgarden or Rapid Vienna of Austria will await. Follow Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea reaction live below, with expert analysis from Standard Sport’s Dom Smith at the Stadion Jozefa Pilsudskiego.

A much-improved second half from Chelsea, who will take a commanding lead into next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge.

No disrespect to Nkunku, but I really didn't fancy him there. The fact the spot-kick is saved is just a bit sad really! Immediately, though, Chelsea have their third.
GOAL! Legia Warsaw 0-3 Chelsea | Noni Madueke 74'
19:18 , George Flood74 mins: Madueke at the double and Nkunku’s missed penalty is quickly forgotten just 25 seconds later!
It’s another nice run by Sancho and Madueke is on hand to tap into an empty net from point-blank range.
The Blues are cruising into the Conference League semi-finals.
Legia have just had no answer in this second half.
Legia Warsaw 0-2 Chelsea
19:17 , George Flood72 mins: Huge confusion here as Nkunku is felled by Augustyniak just outside the box and Kun also then takes out Dewsbury-Hall.
The referee is pointing everywhere before we get a penalty check by the VAR.
This is going to be given for the second challenge... and it is!
Nkunku to step up... SAVED BY TOBIASZ!
Legia Warsaw 0-2 Chelsea
19:13 , George Flood67 mins: The chances are piling up for Chelsea now as Dewsbury-Hall volleys over and Nkunku forces Tobiasz into a low save.
Another Blues goal tonight with no Legia reply and it’s surely tie over ahead of next week’s second leg at Stamford Bridge.
No threat whatsoever from the hosts at the moment, despite the non-stop noise still being generated by the home fans.
Legia Warsaw 0-2 Chelsea
19:10 , George FloodThe goal that may well have seen Chelsea put one foot firmly in the Conference League semi-finals.
Legia the architects of their own downfall on that occasion.

Sancho also stings the palms of Tobiasz at the other end before a committed block on Cucurella.

Well, you've got to say those half-time subs have worked!
Palmer off meant George moved centrally (he's now scored). And Madueke, on at the break, doubles the lead for Chelsea.
It's a match they're controlling now, and the tie too, as Cucurella comes on for James.

GOAL! Legia Warsaw 0-2 Chelsea | Noni Madueke 58'
19:02 , George Flood58 mins: Dominant Chelsea double their advantage before the hour mark!
Tobiasz’s woeful clearance falls straight to James, who then finds Sancho to work his way into the box and lay across for Madueke to slot home.
Chelsea are really at the races now. Legia with a mountain to climb in the tie.

Chelsea have made an excellent start to the second half, and already they are rewarded with the opening goal of the game.
It's such a lovely moment for Tyrique George, too. The teenager scores for the Blues for the very first time.
GOAL! Legia Warsaw 0-1 Chelsea | Tyrique George 49'
18:54 , George Flood49 mins: A first senior goal for Chelsea teenager Tyrique George breaks the deadlock in Warsaw!
He reacts quickest and drives home the rebound low from close range after Tobiasz had parried James’ half-volley.
What a moment for the youngster.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:53 , George Flood48 mins: Much more intent already from Chelsea in the early stages of this second half and another free header is sent off target by Dewsbury-Hall, this time from James’ cross.
They sustain the pressure and Sancho gets to the byline, but Legia eventually clear their lines.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:49 , George FloodThe players have emerged for the second half and Maresca is making two changes.
Colwill and Madueke are coming on for Tosin and Palmer.
A shock to see Palmer heading off. Chelsea fans will be praying that’s nothing injury-related.
Back underway...
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:45 , George FloodA whopping 75 per cent possession in that first half for Chelsea, with 10 shots and 21 total touches inside the opposition box.
Nothing to show for it, though. How long until we see the likes of Nicolas Jackson and Noni Madueke introduced off the bench?

A half of getting to grips with this atmosphere for Chelsea.
They improved ever so slightly as it went on.
Now to get this first leg won, after the break.
Maresca will demand they up the ante.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:35 , George FloodHalf-time
The deadlock has yet to be broken as the two sides head in at the break.
Chelsea have been the dominant force as expected and monopolised possession, with their best chances falling to Dewsbury-Hall.
But Legia have posed a threat amid that relentless non-stop atmosphere generated by the fervent home ultras, Morishita with their clearest opening.
Plenty to ponder for Enzo Maresca.

Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:33 , George Flood46 mins: That’s really disappointing from Dewsbury-Hall, who has a free header from Nkunku’s cross but glances well wide over Kapuadi.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:32 , George Flood45 mins: Chelsea still dominating possession and searching for another opening as the fourth official’s board goes up.
Just the one minute of added time signalled.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:30 , George Flood44 mins: Another Chelsea corner with half-time looming, but there is no presence at all for the Blues inside the box really as an eventual cross from Gusto is easily repelled.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:29 , George Flood40 mins: Into the last five minutes of the first half and Chelsea should have a free-kick right on the edge of the box for a clear foul by Oyedele on Palmer that somehow isn’t given.
Here come the visitors again, but Palmer’s strike is blocked after good work from George.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:26 , George Flood38 mins: James and George are trying to keep the tempo up for Chelsea, but the latter is dispossessed inside the Legia box by Wszolek and then gives away a cheap foul to relieve the latest bout of pressure.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:2335 mins: Last-ditch defending from Legia now as Badiashile’s header from a Gusto cross is diverted onto the roof of the net by Augustyniak with Nkunku lurking.
Much more like it from Chelsea, who have picked up the tempo considerably.
James complains to the referee that Nkunku was being held inside the box there.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:21 , George Flood33 mins: Chelsea’s best moments of the match so far.
Lovely work from Acheampong and Palmer has a shot blocked before Dewsbury-Hall’s first-time bending strike is tipped wide by Tobiasz at full stretch.
Fine save.

Cole Palmer nicks the ball and tries to break free but is pursued across half the pitch by two Legia players, one of whom eventually slides in and tackles the forward.
No shortage of energy from the hosts. Chelsea guilty of moving the ball too slowly when building attacks in the final third at present.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:18 , George Flood30 mins: Half an hour gone in Warsaw and a long throw-in from the right from Legia is hacked away by Dewsbury-Hall.
Chelsea try to break with renewed menace but there’s a firm challenge on Palmer near the touchline.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:14 , George Flood27 mins: Chelsea are quickly back on the attack as they force another corner that is headed into the grateful arms of goalkeeper Tobiasz by Tosin.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea

A warning for Chelsea.

Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:09 , George Flood21 mins: James’ latest cross into the box is headed behind and another Chelsea corner is then cleared by Kapuadi.
Some nice touches again on display from Palmer, who will be desperate to end his long goal drought this evening.

Chelsea settling into the contest now, seeing plenty of possession and just waiting patiently for gaps to appear.
Spotting those gaps is another matter, though, what with all the pyrotechnics the Legia fans are setting off.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:05 , George Flood18 mins: More pyro from the Legia ultras and red and green smoke is now once again filling the air around the stadium.

Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:04 , George Flood16 mins: Tidy stuff from Palmer and it’s more pressure being applied by Chelsea, but they can’t ask questions of Legia’s defence and are gradually forced back into their own half.
Still no let up in that noise from the home fans.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
18:0113 mins: The sting had been largely taken out of Legia’s fast start, but they are now crunching into challenges and looking to break at pace with former Manchester United midfielder Oyedele at the heart of it.
Now Chelsea burst forward but it ends up a real waste. Nkunku needs to do better.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
17:59 , George Flood10 mins: Plenty of early possession and patient build-up play from Chelsea, who are keeping calm and moving the ball well at times.
They aren’t converting that into opportunities just yet though as a deep cross sails harmlessly behind for a goal kick to Legia.

Chelsea showing some good aerial prowess from the corner, with a succession of headers won, but Legia get it clear.
Those home fans are making an absolute racket, by the way.
They're also bouncing and doing the Poznan.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
17:56 , George Flood8 mins: Panic inside the six-yard box for Legia after Dewsbury-Hall’s cross from the byline is headed behind.
The hosts can’t clear their lines from the resulting corner and Nkunku tries to flick home Sancho’s pass from close range before the whistle blows.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
17:52 , George Flood4 mins: Chelsea’s first foray forward is quickly halted. Deafening whistles from the home fans every time the Blues get on the ball.
Non-stop noise, but thankfully a lot of the smoke from those flares has now cleared.
Legia Warsaw 0-0 Chelsea
17:50 , George Flood2 mins: Chelsea under a lot of pressure early on here with visibility so poor because of the smoke.

10-minute warning
17:38 , George FloodLess than 10 minutes to go now before kick-off in the Polish capital.

There's even a Poland flag among the 10 displayed. 'True Blues Poland', it says.

Josh Acheampong and Tyrique George have made plenty of appearances this season for Chelsea, but this occasion will be great experience for the pair of them.
Legia's atmosphere (though yet to get going) is going to be hostile and will be a big test of character.
It will be fascinating to see how the 18-year-old defender and 19-year-old winger come through this game.

17:03So Cole Palmer is back in the Chelsea starting lineup tonight after being named on the bench against Brentford on Sunday.
However, the likes of Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella and Nicolas Jackson are all only substitutes again in Warsaw.
Filip Jorgensen starts over Robert Sanchez in goal as expected, with Josh Acheampong and Benoit Badiashile both getting the nod in defence.
Captain Reece James is moved into midfield to partner Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall, with both Moises Caicedo and Enzo Fernandez on the bench.
Noni Madueke makes way for Palmer as Jadon Sancho and Christopher Nkunku are also joined in attack by teenager Tyrique George.

Maresca provides new Chelsea injury update
16:32 , George FloodHere’s what Enzo Maresca had to say in his latest Chelsea injury update yesterday, with Wesley Fofana unfortunately out for the remainder of the season but Romeo Lavia and Marc Guiu - the latter of whom scored six times during the Conference League league phase - both expected to return in the coming weeks.
"We are going to support them for sure because they are our players, because they are young, and because they are human beings and in a moment where they struggle for different reasons, we need to support them," Maresca said.
"Unfortunately, Wes will be out for the rest of the season. Hopefully we can get Romeo very soon.
“I don't know if for the next game but he looks quite good in terms of being back soon.
"We need to support both and then at the end of the season we will see.
"We have good news on Marc.
"From today he looks quite good, much better, and he can be back before the season finishes."

Chelsea squad for Legia Warsaw trip
16:24A reminder of the Chelsea squad that Enzo Maresca has taken to Warsaw this evening.
Official lineups should be on the way very soon...
— Chelsea FC (@ChelseaFC) April 9, 2025
Calm before the storm
16:05The calm before the inevitable storm in Warsaw, where I daresay things will be slightly livelier a little later on.
This stadium - first opened in 1930 - only has a modest capacity of just over 31,000, but it will feel like five times that once we’re underway this evening.
A reminder that Chelsea will have less than 800 fans in attendance due to safety concerns.

How Maresca has prepared Chelsea for hostile reception
15:54 , George FloodSo how exactly has Enzo Maresca helped to prepare his Chelsea squad for the hostile reception they will inevitably receive in Warsaw tonight?
For a start, he has been showing them video clips of exactly what they can expect at the Stadion Jozefa Pilsudskiego, where flares, fireworks and tifos are the norm.
“We tried to show them also some of the environment in this stadium so they can adapt, they can be ready,” Maresca said at his pre-match press conference yesterday.
“But fortunately, in England almost everywhere the environment is good, it's nice.
“Yes, yes [we’ve shown them clips].
“For sure tomorrow will be even more, but I always said the same that the players, they are lucky, they have to think that they are lucky to experience that kind of game and that kind of moment.
“We try always to give them the big picture. Sometimes you also need to show them where you go because we have players from different parts of the world, so probably some of them don't know exactly [what to expect].
“So we show them also some of the environment in this stadium.
“We need to experience this kind of game, this kind of moment.
“We are very young but in the same moment we need this kind of game to improve. [The young players], they are ready.”

Chelsea fans advised to avoid wearing club colours in Warsaw
15:44 , George FloodChelsea were allocated just 742 total tickets amid safety concerns for a fixture deemed as “high-risk” by authorities.
As Standard Sport’s Dom Smith notes in Warsaw, Legia have a history of fan disorder and have received multiple bans and fines in recent years for the behaviour of their supporters - including after a Conference League tie away at Aston Villa in December 2023.
They were again fined last October after supporters defied a stadium ban and snuck into a game against Serbian side Backa Topola.
Chelsea have urged their fans to “exercise caution and avoid confrontations where possible”.
The club said in a statement: “We have been advised by Legia Warsaw and local authorities that visiting fans should attend the meeting point prior to the fixture where free transportation will be provided to the stadium.
“Supporters are advised that this is a high-risk fixture. Please exercise caution and avoid confrontations where possible.
“The local police recommend that Chelsea supporters avoid wearing Chelsea FC colours in Warsaw.”
Chelsea ready to face hostile atmosphere in Warsaw
15:36 , George FloodEnzo Maresca had barely touched down in Poland by the time he was speaking at his pre-match press conference on Wednesday, fielding questions about the hostile atmosphere Chelsea will be met with, writes Dom Smith in Warsaw.
Legia Warsaw are the giants of Polish football and their fans create one of the most intimidating away days in Europe.
Chelsea have already accrued some rather eclectic experiences on their travels in the Conference League this season, having been posted to the sleepy Swiss town of Servette, tiny Heidenheim in southern Germany and remote Almaty in Kazakhstan, where they battled temperatures of -10 degrees.
Their sternest test yet came last time out in overcoming Copenhagen 3-1 on aggregate in the last 16, and now comes an altogether different challenge.

Legia Warsaw vs Chelsea prediction
15:28Chelsea are firm favourites for a reason and this should be another relatively easy walk in the park, albeit a frosty one.
Legia Warsaw will make it as hard as possible for their biggest games in years, but the squad Enzo Maresca can take to the Polish capital should get the job done before a return leg at Stamford Bridge.
Chelsea to win, 3-1.

Chelsea team news
15:24 , George FloodEnzo Maresca surprisingly dropped both Cole Palmer and Nicolas Jackson to the bench for Sunday’s frustrating goalless draw away at west London rivals Brentford in the Premier League as he made five changes to the side that edged past Tottenham three days earlier.
Despite insisting that such alterations were not made with this trip to Warsaw in mind, both Palmer and Jackson will be eyeing quick returns to the starting XI.
Maresca confirmed yesterday that Wesley Fofana will not play again this season, though Romeo Lavia is expected back soon from his own latest hamstring issue.
Noni Madueke made his first start since February at the weekend, though Chelsea’s top Europa League marksman Marc Guiu is still out along with Omari Kellyman and the unavailable Mykhailo Mudryk.
Levi Colwill, Marc Cucurella and Pedro Neto are among the other stars to be named on the bench against Brentford who will be hoping to come back in tonight.
Filip Jorgensen will start in goal, with youngsters Josh Acheampong, Tyrique George, Mathis Amougou, Sam Rak-Sakyi and Shim Mheuka all making the trip.
