Legia Warsaw fans unfurl huge banner of Pope John Paul II at Ibrox before Rangers clash

Legia Warsaw fans unfurled a huge banner of Pope John Paul II prior to their Europa League qualifier against Rangers at Ibrox.

The Polish side are in Glasgow for the second leg of the tie with the winner progressing into Friday's group stage draw.

Rangers are a club with historically strong Protestant links while rivals Celtic are traditionally considered the city's Catholic side.

Legia fans were hailed by some on Twitter for 'trolling' Rangers with the banner before what is a huge game for both clubs.

A section of Ibrox is closed for the match due to sectarian chants heard during the Gers' win over St Joseph's last month.

Steven Gerrard's side are hoping to join their Old Firm rivals in the Europa League group stage after Celtic ran out 4-1 winners over AIK in Stockholm.

Strikes from James Forrest, Christopher Jullien and Lewis Morgan, plus an own goal, gave Neil Lennon's men a comfortable victory.

They had won the first leg at Celtic Park 2-0 giving them a 6-1 triumph on aggregate.

Rangers could only manage a goalless draw in the Polish capital in the first leg of their tie so must find a way to win tonight to reach the group stage.
