The Legends of League tournament at McDonald Jones Stadium will raise money to support victims of this week's bushfires and emergency workers.
Acting minister for sport Geoff Lee has announced the NSW Government will donate the hire fees of the stadium and $1 from every ticket to the Salvation Army's bushfire disaster appeal.
McDonald Jones Homes will match the money raised dollar-for-dollar. Spectators will be able to give donations at the event.
"I want to encourage everyone to go along to McDonald Jones Stadium this Saturday to help raise money for people impacted by these devastating fires," Mr Lee said.
"Novocastrians always pull together and support each other in times of need."
Former Newcastle Knights captain and Legends of League player Kurt Gidley said fans were guaranteed six hours of action-packed, "old school" rugby league.
"Legends of League is a great way for retired players to relive the good old days, while bringing the community together to raise money for a good cause," he said.
This year's Legends of League will feature former stars Danny Buderus, Wendell Sailor, Andrew Ryan, Mick Crocker, Willie Mason and Steve Menzies.
