There will be a council meeting in December to formally approve the award, before a special presentation is made to players and representatives of the legendary Leeds team who will be invited to attend.
The era famously saw the club lift the League Cup, beating Arsenal at Wembley in 1968, as well as the Inter Cities Fairs Cup in 1968 and 1971, the FA Cup in 1972, and the two legendary league title wins of 1969 and 1974.
Names from that era include icons such as Jack Charlton; Billy Bremner; Paul Madeley; Johnny Giles; Terry Cooper; Eddie Gray; Peter Lorimer; Trevor Cherry; Paul Reaney; David Harvey; Terry Yorath; Mick Jones; Norman Hunter and Allan Clarke.
The event also featured speeches from chairman Andrea Radrizzani and managing director Angus Kinnear, who announced sensational plans for Elland Road to be extended to a capacity of 50,000.
