Legendary Valleys ice cream parlour Mr Creemys is up for sale

Legendary ice cream parlour Mr Creemys has been put up for sale after almost 30 years of business.

The ice cream shop on Tylacelyn Road in Penygraig, Rhondda, which has been trading since 1992, including all its equipment, machinery, white goods and display counter is on sale for almost £200,000.

The shop is situated on Penygraig high street and is popular among locals as well as others across the south Wales Valleys.

A classic popular treat at the shop includes an ice cream boat, which comes with two scoops of ice cream, your choice of flake and or an ice lolly.

The shop also makes ice cream birthday cakes and most recently started selling waffles and ice cream eggs.

The shop has been operating a one in one out takeaway policy under lockdown.

Mr Creemys has a four and a half star rating on Trip Adviser with reviewers describing it as a "stunning ice-cream parlour" and "the best around."

On review wrote: "This has been a favourite of mine since I was a child. Every time I am in the area I always pop into Mr Creemys for an ice cream. There is so much variety and the ice cream is delicious."

Another added: "I have lived in England for a couple of years now but every time I stop off home then I always make a point to stop here. There simply isn't an ice cream shop better anywhere else."

The property is being sold as seen with Property Plus, and according to their website, that means most items in the parlour are included in the overall sale.

Property Plus said this includes all equipment, machinery, white goods, display counters, CCTV equipment, shelving, ice cream machine, slush machines, modern technology coffee machines and so much more.

A two-bedroom flat above the store is also included in the sale, which has one bathroom and an open plan kitchen-diner and lounge.

The ice cream shop comes with a storage room and a car parking area that can fit up to three vehicles.

There is also an enclosed patio area at the back of the property for residents of the flat to use.

The shop has been an ice cream parlour since 1959, first owned by the original Mr Creemy, Mike Jenkins.

The family sold the shop in 1990 and continued making ice cream as suppliers before it was forced to change its name to SubZero in 2009 due to a trademark issue.

SubZero eventually went back to its roots and opened a modern shop and show room at the Ely Industrial Estate in Williamstown.

The property is being sold as a freehold unit for a price of £195,000. For more details, contact Property Plus.
