Legendary Steelers player and broadcaster Tunch Ilkin dies at 63

All of Steeler Nation got the terrible news on Saturday that longtime Pittsburgh Steeler player and broadcaster Tunh Ilkin had died at the age of 63. Ilkin had announced in June he was stepping down from this broadcasting job with the team as he continued to fight ALS. According to Steelers beat writer Dale Lolley, Ilkin was also dealing with pneumonia when he died which only complicated things for him.

Ilkin played offensive tackle for the Steelers from 1980-1992. He returned to the team in 1998 to join the broadcast team and was beloved by players, fans and fellow media alike. We wish his family well during this time and know that we will all miss what Ilkin meant to everyone he came in contact with.
