TIRUPATI: Kin of Bharata Ratna late Lata Mangeshkar donated a sum of Rs.10 lakh to the Tirupati Balaji trust on the legendary singer's behalf and as per her last wishes.
The family members informed the Tirupati trust through a letter that Lata Mangeshkar mentioned her desire to donate a sum of Rs.10 lakh to the TTD after her demise in her "will" and the donation was extended to the Tirupati trust now as per her last wish.
Lata Mangeshkar's sister Usha Mangeshkar requested TTD's Mumbai representative Milind Keshav Narvekar to hand over their donation to the Tirupati trust on their behalf.
Following the family's request, TTD board member Milind Narvekar handed over the donation cheque to TTD EO AV Dharma Reddy in the presence of Chairman Bhumana Karunakar Reddy at Tirumala on Monday.
The legendary playback singer and music composer was a staunch devotee of Lord Balaji and had even served as the Tirupati trust's court musician (Asthana Vidwan) in the past.
In the year 2010, Lata Mangeshkar rendered about ten Tallapaka Annamacharya Sankeerthanas, which were recorded by TTD's Sri Venkateswara recording project, and released in the form of audio CDs titled as "Annamayya Swara Latharchana".
