- Welsh singer Bonnie Tyler , celebrated for her distinctive husky voice and global hits, has died at the age of 75 in a hospital in Portugal.
- Her family confirmed she passed away unexpectedly last night from an illness she was receiving treatment for, having been admitted to hospital on 30 April.
- Tyler rose to international fame with her iconic 1983 power ballad "Total Eclipse of the Heart" and the 1984 hit "Holding Out for a Hero," featured in the Footloose movie soundtrack.
- Throughout her career, which included 18 studio albums, she was the only Welsh artist to achieve a number one on the UK Singles Chart and garnered three Grammy and three Brit Award nominations.
- Awarded an MBE in 2023 for her contributions to music, Tyler continued to tour worldwide and released her final studio album, The Best is Yet to Come, in 2021.
