Legendary rockers GUN to perform in Strathaven this Friday

Glasgow rockers GUN will perform a special show in Strathaven this weekend.

The band will play a rare acoustic concert at the Strathaven Hotel as part of FRETS concerts.

GUN’s Jools and Dante will be playing acoustic versions of their best loved GUN songs at the all seated gig.

Frets is run by well-known Strathaven musician and Creeping Bent label owner Douglas MacIntyre.

This sees musicians from all over the UK play intimate sets in the town.

This Friday's concert comes as the band prepares to release their new album, The Calton Songs, on October 14.

The album will feature a reimagined version of their hit single Word Up as well as other classics that have shaped the band's career.

Speaking about the album, Jools Gizzi said: “When the pandemic hit we realised that it was the perfect time to try and counteract the bleakness that was all around.

"It felt like we couldn’t write anything, or of course tour. Out of that darkness came a desire to completely rework these songs that we know the fans love, and bring a different, stripped down vibe”.

Friday's concert will be opened by local singer Kevin Noon and also feature special guest Ewan MacFarlane, who came to fame with The Grim Northern Social.
