Dec. 05--Rogie Vachon, the first Los Angeles King to have his sweater retired, has eyes on retiring his street number next. The legendary goalie has put his home in Venice on the market at $3.19 million.
The modern Craftsman-style house, built in 2008, sits back from the street behind a fence and privacy hedges. Designed for indoor-outdoor living, features include telescoping glass doors off of formal living areas that open to an inner deck space and patio.
The two-story floor plan includes a chef's kitchen with an 11-foot marble island, a dining room, a living room with fireplace, four bedrooms and 4.5 bathrooms in about 3,800 square feet. The second-floor master retreat offers 800 square feet with dual sinks and a large soaking tub.
Vachon, 69, spent seven seasons with the Kings and holds team records for career games (389), wins (171) and shutouts (32). He was also the team's general manager from 1984 to 1992 and served as interim head coach on a number of occasions. He also played for the Canadiens, Red Wings and Bruins during a 16-year NHL career.
Vachon bought the house for $1.989 million in 2008, records show. In 2011, he sold another Venice-area residence for $1.225 million.
His daughter-in-law, Renee Vachon of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage, has the listing.
