Legendary Italian fashion designer Giorgio Armani, the force behind the Armani empire, has sadly passed away at 91.
Based in Milan, Armani built a global brand that started with high fashion and grew to include music, sports, and even luxury hotels. He became a go-to name on the red carpet and is remembered as one of Italy’s most iconic designers.
“With infinite sorrow, the Armani Group announces the passing of its creator, founder, and tireless driving force: Giorgio Armani,” the fashion house shared in a statement on Thursday.

Armani had been struggling with his health for a while and, for the first time in his career, skipped his brand’s shows during Milan’s Men’s Fashion Week in June.
The company has not yet revealed the cause of death.
Nicknamed “Re Giorgio” (King Giorgio), Armani was famous for having his hand in everything – from the overall vision of his collections to the tiniest details, like tweaking a model’s hair right before they hit the runway.
The company said a public farewell will be held in Milan this weekend, with a private funeral to follow at a later date.
