Legendary GAA commentator Micheal O Muircheartaigh offers words of wisdom to those unhappy in their jobs

GAA commentating legend Micheal O Muircheartaigh has offered some career advice for those unhappy in their jobs.

The Kerryman, who's prolific career spanned six decades, expressed his love for the broadcasting gig which he said goodbye to in 2010.

He said: "I have a great belief that you should get out of any job that you're not happy in. I loved that job from the start to the finish.

"I always advice people, when they get a job, if they don't like it, to pack it in there and then and you'll finish with a better job."

The broadcasting legend has recently teamed up with My Legacy, a group of 65 Irish charities who try to encourage Irish people to leave money in their will.

He revealed that he has already put together a will and that he believes everyone should do the same.

The 89-year-old told Independent.ie: "I had always a feeling for charities and I have made a will, I think everyone should."

O Muircheartaigh also paid tribute to the late Gay Byrne, saying the late TV icon was "a level above all else."

He said: "[Gay] was there for a long time and it was very obvious to everyone that he loved the job and that he was interested in it. It was what he wanted to do.

"He was a great learner, he was a great listener, he had great patience, he was very intelligent, he always seemed to hit it right."

He added: "I never met anyone with a bad word for him. People might not like what he said because they weren't of his view.

"The reaction of the last few days would tell it."
