A legendary funk and soul DJ known for his incendiary live performances is returning to Weston-super-Mare this summer for a seaside set.
After a memorable appearance in 2018, the inimitable Craig Charles will be bringing his 'trunk of funk' back to The Tropicana in July for his hugely popular Funk & Soul Club Night.
After starring in Robot Wars and sci-fi sitcom Red Dwarf, in which he played Dave Lister, Craig has forged a career as an icon of funk and soul after 10 years on BBC Radio 6 Music with a primetime weekend show.
Broadcasting live every Saturday evening with an assortment of classic tracks and emerging artists, Craig has garnered global support as one of the UK’s foremost commentators in the scene, and the show has become a benchmark for artists who want to break through.

The list of guests who have appeared on The Funk and Soul Show speaks for itself, with Gil-Scott Heron, James Brown, Roy Ayers, Cymande, Marlena Shaw, Paul Weller, Primal Scream and Terry Callier among those who have joined Craig in the studio over the years.
As a DJ Craig has captivated crowds across the UK, having played at a number of major festivals such as Love Box, Park Life, Festival no 6, Wychwood Festival, Common People and, most impressively, at Glastonbury's Arcadia and Shangri-la stages to more than 10,000 people each time.
