Legendary Cardiff City steward Dai 'Rav' Motherway dies as club to pay tribute at match

Cardiff City have confirmed plans to pay tribute to much-loved steward Dai Motherway during Saturday's clash with Bournemouth.

Dai, affectionately known as 'Ravanelli' or 'Rav' to many of his friends, passed away at the age of 58 this week, and was a beloved figure at the Cardiff City Stadium.

The club are set to print a special tribute in Saturday's matchday programme, while fans will also be invited to pay their own tributes during the half-time interval.

Dai started working for the club back in 1998, and went on to become manager of the Canton Stand, becoming a widely known character to many City and Wales fans on matchdays.

He also attended games on the road as an away fan over the years, and was heavily involved with stewarding Wales supporters at home and abroad.

Tributes have already been flooding in from fans on social media, while a spokesperson from Cardiff City told WalesOnline: "Dai was much loved and well respected by fans and colleagues and will be a big loss to the Cardiff City family.

"We are in close contact with his daughter, Chelsea, who will be attending the fixture tomorrow with family and some of Dai's friends."
