'Legend' - Video of Nottingham Forest ace's stoppage-time kick goes down storm with fans

Since his switch to the City Ground, goalkeeper Brice Samba has quickly earned the affection of Nottingham Forest fans.

Not least because of a tendency to wind up the opposition.

And a video clip of the seconds ticking down as Samba has possession of the ball in Saturday’s 1-0 win over Blackburn Rovers has gone down a storm on social media.

Why Nottingham Forest had fake crowd noise at the City Ground

In it, the Reds stopper is preparing to take a kick as the Reds lead in stoppage time at the City Ground.

There is some confusion over where the ball should be placed, before Samba then positions it outside his six-yard box and is told to move it back over the line.

Sky Sports tweeted the video, alongside a crying with laughter emoji, saying: “How long does it take to take a goal-kick? When #NFFC are 1-0 up in injury-time, it takes as long as Brice Samba wants it to…”

Although it seems he may have actually been taking a free-kick, fans replied: “Yellow wall does what he likes.”

Others said, “legend”, “that’s my keeper” and joked “thought that was a quick one for Brice”.

Samba was key to Chris Hughton’s side securing the three points, saving a penalty from Adam Armstrong to ensure Alex Mighten’s goal was the difference between the two sides.

Boss Hughton says having a solid goalkeeper is crucial to Forest’s bid to climb up the Championship table.

“It can make a huge difference,” he told NottinghamshireLive.

“All of the top teams and the teams who do well, would have a goalkeeper behind them of very high quality.

“It’s such an important role in the team and an important position that you would always want to have the best goalkeeper you can, or a goalkeeper in the best form he can.

“In Brice, we have a goalkeeper, for me, who has been in good form all season.”
