There will be a legal challenge to the traffic ban on Capel Street "shortly", a Councillor has said.
The full pedestrianisation is set to be implemented on the eclectic Street on May 20 after a long period of trials.
The response from local businesses, residents and the general public has been overwhelmingly positive.

Over 90% of the public, more than 80% of business and 75% of residents responded that "it significantly improved my experience" to one survey.
However, Independent Councillor Mannix Flynn told DCC's monthly meeting that a legal challenge will be lodged "shortly".
A High Court Case was taken by Cllr Flynn and local residents against the Strand Road cycle lane which the residents won last year. DCC appealed the decision.
Cllr Flynn told the meeting: "My issue at the moment is in the city centre it is almost impossible to get about the place with the amount of street furniture about the place.
"All of the plastic bollards are breaking all over the place. It is extremely dangerous. Most of the elderly don't bother coming out anymore because the city is so hostile.
"People are complaining to me because there is so much furniture on the footpath in the likes of Capel Street. Dublin City Council are creating an obstacle course."
He added: "In terms of Capel Street, and the closure of Capel Street, there will be a legal challenge in relation to that matter which is really unfortunate."
A DCC Official pointed to the positive response from locals, businesses and the public before adding, "certainly, we hope there is not a legal challenge to this".
