Left side of Vikings offensive line listed as biggest red flag

Minnesota has to rely on new faces in order to repeat last season’s success. Not only that, but even some of the mainstay players are considered to be problem areas.

Vikings fans have panned left guard Pat Elflein for his performance in seasons after his rookie year. There’s also left tackle Riley Reiff, who some think would be better suited for guard due to his average play on the exterior of the offensive line.

Those two players add up to the Vikings’ biggest red flag headed into 2020, according to Bleacher Report.

Brent Sobleski, who writes for Bleacher Report, said that Minnesota “will have to deal with the fact that one of their blockers on the left side may be a hindrance during the ’20 campaign.”

Here’s something else he said:

From this point, two things could happen, and both could be detrimental in the short term. Either the team sticks with Reiff, thus leaving Pat Elflein at guard after another disappointing season, or (Ezra) Cleveland takes over and a rookie will be protecting Kirk Cousins’ blind side.

Overall, if Reiff moves to guard and Cleveland, a rookie tackle, is a quick study, then the Vikings offensive line would be decent.
