Leeds West Indian Carnival plans at cricket club branded 'public nuisance'

A cricket club's plans for the Leeds West Indian Carnival could be in jeapardy this year after objections from police and council officials.

Caribbean Cricket Club on Scott Hall Road wants serve alcohol, provide entertainment and late night refreshments during the weekend of the carnival.

But West Yorkshire Police and Leeds City Council 's Environmental Protection Team have served an objection notice to the application from the venue, on the grounds of the 'prevention of public nuisance'.

This means a licencing panel at the council will now decide whether this will be unheld or the permissions granted.

The meeting will take place tomorrow (Tuesday, July 9).
