Leeds weather forecast with snow and ice warning in place for today

Just as Storm Ciara looks to be dying down, Leeds has been issued with a yellow weather warning for snow and ice.

The Met Office has put the alert in place for much of the north west and Scotland, including parts of West Yorkshire. Leeds falls right on the boundary of the warning, which means some parts of the city, including west Leeds, could be affected by the treacherous weather.

Guidance from the Met Office says: "Further snow showers and icy surfaces may lead to travel disruption."

It could mean that people travelling on the roads or by train could see their journeys affected, with icy patches likely on some stretches of road.

Pedestrians are also being told to take care of icy surfaces too.

The snow and ice warning is in effect until midday today (Wednesday) and although it will be 3°C outside for much of the morning, the wind chill will make it feel as though it is -2°C.

It will warm up ever so slightly throughout the day, but the temperature will plummet to 2°C by nightfall.

Today's weather warning comes ahead of yet another storm which is forecast to batter Leeds at the weekend.

, with 50mph winds and heavy rain forecast.

The latest danger to life warning comes less than a week after Storm Ciara battered West Yorkshire with rain and winds of over 60mph.
