Leeds weather forecast for General Election voters heading to polling stations

Thousands of people are braving heavy rain in Leeds today to cast their vote in the 2019 General Election.

People across the city were caught in downpours which started on the morning of Thursday, December 12.

According to the Met Office, heavy rain and temperatures of around 4°C are expected up until 7pm but it should be drier after that, as cloudy conditions and slightly warmer temperatures are forecast for Thursday evening.

There 354 polling stations across Leeds and they will all close at 10pm.

The forecaster says Leeds should expect cloudy skies, with brief sunny spells, and some light showers during the day on Friday.

Millions of people across the country have taken to the polls today, to cast their vote in the first winter election since 1923.
