Leeds weather forecast as River Aire flood alerts in place

More wind and rain is heading to Leeds, according to the Met Office - and some risk of flooding.

The forecaster, which this morning announced plans to invest in a £1.2bn supercomputer to help it predict severe weather, says Leeds will remain blustery this half-term week.

A yellow weather warning for wind is in place in Leeds, across the north of England and Scotland until 11am on Monday.

Further showers, hail and even thunderstorms are also on the cards.

Here is the forecast for the week:

Monday - Cloudy, with isolated blustery and heavy showers likely, especially across the Pennines. Hail and thunder also possible, with conditions remaining windy throughout. Maximum temperature of 6 °C. Windy overnight, with temperatures dropping to a minimum of 0 °C.

Tuesday - Another windy day with some sunshine and more blustery showers. Chance of frost in sheltered spots. Maximum temperature of 8 °C.

Wednesday to Friday - Wednesday will be dry and breezy with sunny spells, before some cloud and rain later in the day. Thursday will bring rain and strong winds, before a milder Friday, with wind and rain still on the cards.
