Snow is forecast for parts of Yorkshire, with North Yorkshire blanketed in scenic snow - but Leeds is set to miss out on snowfall, according to forecasters.
There was an overnight yellow weather warning for snow across large areas of Scotland and the north of England, with more snowfall predicted this morning.
Parts of the north will continue to see “significant snow” over the next 24 hours and could experience the lowest overnight temperatures of the year, the Met Office has said.
North Yorkshire, Bradford and Huddersfield are all set to see snow this morning - but in Leeds, the best we'll get is sleet, according to the Met Office.
From 9am, sleet is predicted for the city with a 70 per cent chance of precipitation.
This will change to heavy rain from 12pm with 90 per cent chance rainfall continuing until 2pm. The rain will continue from 3pm, before it becomes more overcast by 4pm.
In its forecast for Yorkshire, the Met Office said: “A cold and cloudy day. Rain and snow, mainly on hills, spreading westwards through the morning. Rain turning showery into the afternoon with low cloud becoming more extensive as winds ease. Maximum temperature 7 °C.
“Cloudy with spells of rain and hill snow throughout the night. Turning drier but breezier in the east through the early hours. Ice or frost possible where winds stay light. Minimum temperature -2 °C.”
