Leeds weather forecast as flood warnings issued due to torrential rain

The torrential rain which has caused flooding in Leeds and has seen an amber weather warning issued for parts of the city is set to continue tonight.

The Met Office has forecast heavy rain until 11pm  - with flood alerts issued for several areas of Leeds.

Rivers and becks around Farnley Reservoir have been placed on high alert, with properties on Pudsey Road through to Butt Lane -  including Corn Mill Lodge Hotel - being told they at risk of flooding.

The same threat level has been issued for Tyersal and Pudsey Beck and Environment Agency teams will continue to monitor the situation overnight.

Today's downpours saw Gelderd Road closed in both directions due to flooding.

A top temperature of 8C is forecast for tonight and the yellow weather warning issued for Leeds remains in place until 6am.

The amber warning, which affects areas in the south of the city, is also in place until 6am on Friday.

The good news is, overnight the rain will ease and Friday is set to be largely dry with some sunny intervals.

Light rain is forecast for around 3am on Friday but from 4am onwards it is forecast to be cloudy.

Between 8am and 3pm it will be cloudy with sunny intervals, with temperatures of 6C to 8C.
