Leeds weather due to bring snow, rain and strong winds

People in Leeds are being told that more snow, heavy rain and strong winds could soon arrive.

Wind and torrential rain are expected this weekend when Storm Jorge arrives, but the Met Office has also issued a yellow weather warning for snow, that will be in effect between 9am on Friday, February 28 and 2pm the following day.

According to the forecaster, Leeds will be hit by heavy snow at midday today.

However, it is unlikely to settle as heavy rain and temperatures of around 8°C are expected in the afternoon.

The Met Office says the snow could "affect higher routes" and "lead to some travel disruption".

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for rain, which will be in place between midday today and 9am tomorrow.

A yellow weather warning for wind will then come into effect in Leeds on Saturday, February 29, and last for 24 hours, as 50mph winds are expected.

The city has already been battered by Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis this month, which have caused widespread flooding and thousands of pounds worth of damage.
