Leeds wakes up to thick blanket of fog ahead of day of 28C blazing sunshine

For those living in Leeds many are expecting it to be a scorcher of a day with temperatures reaching up to 28C.

However, for many opening the curtains this morning, they have been met with a creepy blanket of fog that has descended across the city.

But forecasters predict that it won't stay that way for long.

The Met Office weather watchers say that any fog should clear by around 8am leading to a glorious sunny day with blue skies and scorching temperatures.

In a last blast of summer weather temperatures are expected to get up to 28C across Leeds.

The latest forecast from the Met Office reads: "A misty and possibly foggy start across much of the region, although steadily clearing during the morning to a bright and sunny day.

"Feeling hot with light southerly winds, turning hazy later in the day. Maximum temperature 28 °C."

Top temperatures are expected to be reached by about 3pm in the afternoon.

However, make the most of the hot weather while it lasts as weather warnings are in place for Leeds, and much of Yorkshire, for Thursday which could see torrential downpours and thunderstorms sweep in.
