Leeds vs Arsenal temporarily suspended after power cut halts play at Elland Road

Arsenal’s game at Leeds was suspended after just a minute due to a power cut, leaving supporters baffled and forcing the players to return to the changing room.

The lunchtime kick-off at Elland Road had only just got underway when referee Chris Kavanagh called a halt to proceedings, having appeared to have lost contact with his assistants over his radio earpiece.

It followed a brief blackout in the press box, during which the lights went out and the Wifi went down, although both quickly returned.

However, after around 10 minutes of staying warm, the players returned to the changing rooms with the PA announcing that play had been suspended due to a power cut.

The delay lasted over half an hour, with the players eventually returning to the pitch just after 2.30pm.

Play resumed at 2:40pm with just over a minute on the clock, almost 40 minutes after the delay began.
