Leeds United vs Newcastle United - Lee Ryder's Premier League prediction

Newcastle United are aiming to make it three wins Premier League wins in a row against Leeds and will attempt to keep up their good record against the Yorkshire club.

Leeds last beat Newcastle at Elland Road in a competitive fixture back in 1999 when two goals from Alan Shearer couldn't stop them going down to a 3-2 loss.

United have won four and drawn one of their last four visits to the famous old stadium.

Lee Ryder's prediction

Leeds have won just one of their last six fixtures and after a steady start in the top-flight under Marcelo Bielsa, they now find themselves sliding down the table.

United will feel better about themselves after getting back to work and beating West Brom 2-1 and there are certainly weaknesses to exploit in the Leeds defence.

Indeed, pundits underlined their lack of height at the back following the 2-1 win for West Ham, and this could even be the type of game Andy Carroll could end up getting a slice of the action in.

That said, Steve Bruce will be wary of splitting up Joelinton and Callum Wilson - also both strong in the air - with the front two starting to gel.

On the back of a couple of positive displays, I think Newcastle are in the mood to keep that run going.

United should have enough to beat Leeds.

Referee

Simon Hooper (Wiltshire)

His last outing involving Newcastle was the 0-0 snooze fest at Brighton back in July.

Charity bet

The bookies have Leeds as favourites to win at 3/4 so we'll go with odds of 18/5 for a Toon win.
