Leeds United vs Man United score predicted by simulation ahead of Premier League clash

Leeds United take on Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, with Bielsa's side hoping to secure a positive result despite their patchy recent form.

Leeds have suffered with a number of injuries to key players this season, with the most notable absentees being Kalvin Phillips and Patrick Bamford. Marcelo Biesla offered an update on the recovery of Liam Cooper and Phillips, revealing that both could return to the matchday squad in March, whilst Stuart Dallas is a doubt for the fixture against Man United after sustaining an injury in the 3-0 defeat to Everton.

Daniel James is expected to lead the line for Leeds against his former club, having scored two goals in his last four games starting as a centre forward.

So, what line-ups will both teams select? And, what could the final score be?

We used FIFA 22 to get a score prediction for Leeds United versus Man United on Sunday and this is what happened...

Leeds United vs Man United score predicted by simulation

We used kick-off mode in FIFA 22, but didn't select a team to control, we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a score prediction.

We predict that Leeds could set up in a 4-2-3-1 formation, with their line-up as follows: Meslier; Ayling, Llorente, Struijk, Firpo; Forshaw, Koch; Raphinha, Rodrigo, Harrison; James.

We predict that Man United could set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows: De Gea; Dalot, Varane, Maguire, Telles; McTominay, Fernandes, Pogba; Rashford, Sancho, Ronaldo.

Leeds started the game well and pressed high up the pitch in the opening 20 minutes, but were unable to turn their pressure into a goal as Daniel James and Raphinha both were denied by top saves from David De Gea in the first half.

James, Raphinha and Jack Harrison continued to threaten United's defensive line but the final ball continued to elude the home side, with attempts from distance from the Welsh attacker and Brazilian winger proving to be the only option for Leeds to take shots at goal.

Marcus Rashford almost opened the scoring for the away side, but his shot drifted just wide of the post from the edge of Leeds' penalty box, as Meslier darted down to his left to make sure his goal was covered.

In the second half, the away side started to control the midfield area with Paul Pogba and Bruno Fernandes starting to link up more, causing the Leeds issues as Ralf Rangnick's side started to probe the home side's defence with some dangerous attacking moves.

Pogba eventually opened the scoring for Man United with a composed finish into the bottom right corner following some good build-up play between Ronaldo and Fernandes, putting the visitors 1-0 up just after the hour mark.

Fernandes received the ball just inside Leeds' half and drove towards the penalty box, playing a nice one-two with Ronaldo before sliding the ball into Pogba who had drifted from midfield away from Robin Koch who had done a good job of marking the French midfielder up until that point.

The 28-year-old held off Diego Llorente and fired the ball hard and low past Meslier into the bottom corner, putting the away side ahead and leaving Leeds with all the work to do to get back into the game. Rodrigo thought he had equalised for the hosts but his shot cannoned back off the woodwork and was cleared by Harry Maguire for a throw-in before Raphinha could follow up on the rebound.

Leeds weren't able to find a goal to level the score and fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat, despite being the better side in the first half, meaning Bielsa's side remain just six points above the relegation zone with 14 games left to play this season,

FIFA 22 predicts that Leeds could start the game well and dominate large periods of the first half, but may fail to turn their pressure and dominance into a goal.

Heading into the second half, Man United's quality would start to make the difference as Leeds conceded just after the hour mark and were unable to find a way back into the game as the hosts fell to a 1-0 defeat.
