Leeds United mark their Premier League return as they take on Everton under the lights at Elland Road.
Daniel Farke’s side capped a sensational promotion campaign by beating Burnley to the Championship title and reaching the 100-point mark, but now the challenge is staying in the top flight.
All three promoted clubs have been immediately relegated in each of the last two seasons, which is a trend that Leeds, Burnley and Sunderland are looking to buck this campaign.
Leeds get their mission underway against an Everton team who had their fortunes turned around by David Moyes last season, but the Toffees manager has expressed at frustration at their lack of activity in the transfer market - although they have signed Jack Grealish on loan from Manchester City.

Leeds United vs Everton
22:00Leeds enjoy a winning start to the season, beating Everton 1-0 at Elland Road in their first match back in the Premier League. The Championship winners were dominant in the first half but created little and started to look vulnerable at the back in the second period. A contentious penalty award proved the difference, though, as Tarkowski was adjudged to have handled, allowing Nmecha to tuck away the decisive spot-kick. Leeds will look to build on their victory at Arsenal next week, when Everton make their Hill Dickinson Stadium bow against Brighton. Thanks for joining us, and until next time, goodbye!
Leeds United vs Everton
21:59FULL-TIME: Leeds United 1-0 Everton
Leeds United vs Everton
21:58Leeds win another free-kick, this time at the other end of the pitch, as Nmecha is fouled by the corner flag. There is no doubt about this one, and Leeds are almost there.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:57The Everton players cannot believe it as a decision goes against them. After a long period of pressure, Rodon clears from inside his area. Beto is closing the Leeds defender as he clears and concedes a free-kick. The contact appears minimal, but that might be enough to allow Leeds to run down the clock.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:54Tanaka has run himself into the ground, charging down a clearance in his final act before being replaced. Longstaff, who was linked with Everton before signing for Leeds, makes his bow.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:53Everton cannot get out! The Leeds press succeeds again in winning possession on the edge of the box, and Aaronson's low cross is turned over by Stach from a tight angle.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:51Here come Leeds again! As the fourth official indicates a minimum of seven additional minutes, Stach thunders in a low shot that is close enough to Pickford for the England number one to parry comfortably.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:50Huge chance for Tarkowski to make amends! Dewsbury-Hall's latest poor set-piece somehow reaches Beto in the box, but he cannot get his shot off. Grealish does but sees his effort deflected away, before Ndiaye and Gueye combine to cross from the right. That deep centre is flicked on towards Tarkowski, who is unmarked and just yards from goal but cannot contort his body to get the header on target. Was that the chance?
Leeds United vs Everton
21:48Leeds have unsurprisingly lifted the tempo again following the goal, but Everton have the talent on the pitch now to pick a path forward. Grealish wins a free-kick wide on the left.

Leeds United vs Everton
21:41Tanaka fires over! Leeds are back on the front foot straight away following their changes, but the chance falls to one of their starters, a bouncing ball on the edge of the box reaching Tanaka. He perhaps meets the ball slightly too high and cannot keep his shot down.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:38O'Brien heads over! That might be the moment Everton have waited for. The corner from the right finds the giant defender, but he is twisting his body with his back to goal and nods over the top from close range.

21:38Substitution Ethan Ampadu Ilia Gruev

Leeds United vs Everton
21:37Alcaraz draws a first save from Perri! A poor Dewsbury-Hall free-kick is cleared back to the same man, who twists and turns to create space for Alcaraz. A low shot from a tight angle works Perri, who just gets down to turn it behind for a corner.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:34Grealish has gone straight to the left wing, with Ndiaye on the right, Alcaraz through the middle and Dewsbury-Hall moving back into midfield. It is a major change but gets more attacking talent on the pitch.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:32James is clearly fouled by Garner. who somehow avoids both a card and a foul. However, he does not avoid a knock, with both players briefly staying down following the incident.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:30Substitution Tim Iroegbunam Jack Grealish
Leeds United vs Everton
21:29Everton are preparing their own substitution, with Grealish getting ready on the touchline. Perhaps Moyes is looking to capitalise on this improved spell.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:27Gueye, who has been sloppy throughout, drives a crossfield ball way over O'Brien's head, and it is Leeds' turn to regroup. The home side have rather lost their way.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:27Substitution Wilfried Gnonto Brenden Aaronson
Leeds United vs Everton
21:26O'Brien beats the ball to the byline and hangs up a cross that Beto would like to attack. Perri is up highest, however, and confidently catches. This is a better spell from Everton, and the travelling fans are making their voices heard.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:26Struijk clears Dewsbury-Hall's corner, and a second cross from the same visiting player comes to nothing when a team-mate in the middle cannot control his low ball.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:24Garner takes the free-kick won by Alcaraz but clips the wall with his shot. It wins a first Everton corner, however.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:23Everton get a rare opportunity to put the ball in the box through an O'Brien long throw, but Gudmundsson meets it and clears comfortably.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:23Yellow Card Charly Alcaraz
Leeds United vs Everton
21:21Everton clear the Leeds corner, but the hosts are boosted as Ampadu is soon back in the thick of the action, dictating play.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:20Ampadu is back on his feet and able to run off the pitch. Leeds looked to be readying a change, but they may delay that decision as their captain attempts to play on.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:18James wins a corner before the play is called back for the foul by Iroegbunam. Concerningly for Leeds, though, Ampadu looks to be in real pain and is receiving treatment.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:17Gnonto shoots wide! This is the best chance of the second half so far and the best opening since the first few minutes of the match. James' low cross finds Gnonto in the centre, just to the right of goal, and he spins to shoot early, looking to beat Pickford at his near post. He just cannot squeeze his effort on target and hits the side-netting, drawing some brief cheers from the Leeds fans and then jeers from the Everton supporters.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:16Yellow Card Tim Iroegbunam
Leeds United vs Everton
21:15A long ball towards Beto prompts Perri to leave his line and punch, clearing the box and recovering his position as Everton build again. Ndiaye's dancing feet create an opening for Gueye from the edge of the area, but Everton's first shot of the match flies off target.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:13While Everton have almost played their way into trouble a couple of times in recent minutes, they are at least able to put a foot on the ball at the moment and enjoy some possession. That was a rarity before half-time.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:12Straight at Pickford! Tanaka picks off a slack pass just inside the Everton half and sets Gnonto away. Just as the winger prepares to pull the trigger, though, Dewsbury-Hall arrives on the scene to apply vital pressure, with the subsequent shot lacking direction and giving Pickford a simple save.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:10Garner's backpass very nearly sells Pickford short as Piroe hares after the loose ball. A sliding clearance gets Everton out of trouble.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:09Leeds' attacking endeavour was on display throughout the first half, but they are very willing to do the defensive work, too. A gorgeous Ndiaye touch at the start of this second half tees up Dewsbury-Hall for a run, but he is quickly surrounded by white shirts, squeezing a pass out to Beto but seeing the striker isolated and unable to make further progress.
Leeds United vs Everton
21:06KICK-OFF: Piroe gets the action back under way for Leeds.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:54Leeds have had 17 touches in the Everton box but tested Pickford only once. Given the pattern of play, they would have hoped to create chances worth more than 0.72 xG. That is preferable to Everton's first half, though: two touches in the Leeds box, zero shots.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:50Leeds are applauded off at the end of their first 45 minutes back in the top flight, and rightly so, for there has been no lack of effort. The quality is perhaps not there quite yet, though, with their front three all playing in the Championship last season and yet to prove they can really trouble Everton. Piroe came closest when Pickford saved early on. That is at least more than Everton have offered, with Moyes' men on the back foot almost throughout.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:49HALF-TIME: Leeds United 0-0 Everton
Leeds United vs Everton
20:47Ampadu's long throw from the right passes all the way through the Everton box to the far side, where Gnonto dummies one way, then the other, before shooting just over.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:46O'Brien has endured a tough evening so far both with and without the ball up against Gnonto. A first real extended period of Everton possession ends when the right-back cheaply gives the ball away, allowing Leeds to build again.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:44Everton are yet to have a single shot, while Leeds have had 11. Farke's men will hope to make the most of their momentum ahead of half-time.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:43Unorthodox goalkeeping from Pickford! Gudmundsson cuts inside from the left and sees a low shot deflected goalwards, but Pickford contorts his body to punch to safety.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:42Leeds' left-wing corner is flicked on to the far post, where O'Brien has to intervene to clear in front of the goal line. Everton struggle to get the ball fully away, though. It keeps coming back!
Leeds United vs Everton
20:40James might do better as a cross from the left is flicked on, and it appears the Leeds winger volleys over. A corner is given, but it is not clear if the ball touches an Everton player.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:39As he was in the opening seconds, Stach is limping following a challenge in midfield. Play continues, with Leeds on the attack again.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:37Leeds are far less convincing when they have the ball in their own half, under a little Everton pressure, and Perri is very fortunate not to concede a corner when he runs the ball out of play without catching the eye of the officials.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:36This is a little more like it from Everton. Ndiaye races forward with the ball at his feet and players up in support, only for Bogle to superbly dispossess the Everton attacker. That is the type of opportunity Everton have been waiting for, but it is gone in a flash.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:35Tanaka shoots from range and fails to trouble Pickford, missing high and wide to the right. Leeds have had all the play but have had difficulty turning their dominance into clear-cut chances.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:33For the first time, Everton threaten to breach the Leeds box, but a fizzed cross from the right has too much on it for Alcaraz, who attempts to bring the ball down on his chest but succeeds only in directing it into the arms of Perri.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:33O'Brien wins a throw-in from Gnonto on the right midway into the Leeds half, and this gives Everton a first opportunity to get players forward. The throw goes back to Iroegbunam, but his cross is headed clear, before Gueye floats a weak ball through to Perri.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:31James' cross from the left floats over Gnonto's head and behind. Everton will use every break in play to try to slow the home side's momentum. The Leeds fans have certainly been keen to point out how long Pickford is taking with goal-kicks.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:30Just 10% of this match has been played in the Leeds third so far. The home side have had the majority of the possession but are not content to keep it at the back, looking to get at Everton at every opportunity.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:26Everton fans may have wanted to see Grealish and Barry in from the start, but it is difficult to see how either attacking player would have got a kick so far in this match. Their colleages on the pitch are being overrun.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:25Leeds' passing move reaches James on the right, and his low cross picks out Piroe in the middle. His awkward attempt at a shot deflects through to Bogle, but the right-back is offside.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:24Perhaps looking to give themselves a breather, Leeds enjoy a period of possession on halfway. They have been relentless so far but surely cannot keep up this intensity for 90 minutes.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:23Leeds are first to every ball right now. Even when one threatens to run to Gueye in the middle of midfield, he is hesitant and a white shirt steals in. It leads to Pickford being required to come off his line to cut out an attack down the Leeds left.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:22Leeds have already attempted 36 passes in the final third, completing 22 of them. Everton have attempted just seven and only completed two. That tells the tale of this match so far, but it remains goalless.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:19It is chaos in the Everton box! Struijk attacks the corner, and although he does not quite get there, Tanaka quickly returns the ball into the middle. It breaks to Gudmundsson, whose low shot is blocked and spins back towards the advancing Tanaka on the edge of the six-yard box. He gets there ahead of Pickford and nods the ball down in the middle, but Everton scramble to clear.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:17The latest corner drops to James on the edge of the box, and he attempts to shoot on his left but is quickly charged down. Again, though, another wave of attack follows, and O'Brien charges down a Gnonto cross to concede, yep, another corner.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:17It is another set-piece that comes to nothing, but Beto has not even had chance to return to an attacking position before he is forced to intervene on the right and concede another corner.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:16Another Leeds corner! Some of the interplay on the left has been so sharp, and the latest move sets Gnonto away in behind O'Brien, but he cannot work an angle for his cross, which is deflected behind.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:14Beto meets the right-wing Leeds corner and Everton can breathe again. They are being worked hard in the opening stages.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:14Piroe wins a corner! Struijk steals in as Everton again fail to move the ball forward along the ground, and his pass finds Piroe, who turns and shoots quickly on the edge of the box. Keane deflects the shot wide.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:12Much has been made of the physicality of this Leeds team, but Beto will not shirk the challenge. Long balls towards the striker have provided Everton's only brief respite so far.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:11Leeds are up for this. A ball down the right runs away from Bogle, but Everton's attempts to play out from the back are impeded as Gnonto intercepts a slack Tarkowski pass. The Toffees are really being made to work for their opportunities to get the ball forward.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:10The corner that follows Pickford's save is flicked on at the near post but then headed away on the far side. A second cross into the box is gathered well by Pickford.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:09Pickford saves! Gnonto's low ball into the box gains a touch from Tarkowski that takes it into the path of Piroe. The angle is a little tight and becomes tighter still as Pickford advances and blocks bravely. That gets the crowd up!
Leeds United vs Everton
20:07Garner is, as suggested, starting at left-back. Everton move forward down the opposite flank, but right-back O'Brien is flagged offside.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:06Stach is certainly moving freely again as he combines smartly with Gnonto down the left, allowing Leeds to enjoy a first forward foray. It comes to nothing, however.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:04It is a high-tempo start, with Everton looking to get on the front foot but Leeds quickly closing their opponents. Stach takes a knock in an early challenge but continues without receiving treatment.
Leeds United vs Everton
20:03KICK-OFF: Alcaraz gets the game under way with a pass back to Pickford, who launches the ball forward.
Leeds United vs Everton
19:53This will be Daniel Farke's 50th Premier League match as a manager, although his first with Leeds. With just six wins from 49 so far, he is guaranteed to have the lowest win rate of any manager to oversee 50 or more matches in the competition. He has met David Moyes only once, losing 4-0 to West Ham as Norwich City boss in the 2019-20 season.
Leeds United vs Everton
19:48Dewsbury-Hall is the only new face in the Everton XI, meaning Grealish and Barry are in line to make their highly anticipated debuts from the bench. There is no obvious option at left-back, with Vitaliy Mykolenko injured, so Garner could deputise. Jarrad Branthwaite is also a big miss at the back.
Leeds United vs Everton
19:48There are competitive Leeds debuts for goalkeeper Perri, left-back Gudmundsson and midfielder Stach, but Longstaff, Nmecha and Bornauw are forced to settle for places on the bench. They are joined there by ex-Everton loanee Harrison, yet his former Goodison Park team-mate Dominic Calvert-Lewin, signed last week, is not involved. Jaka Bijol is suspended.

19:37Everton are at the start of their own new era, meanwhile, although they will have to wait until matchweek two for their first competitive game at their new Hill Dickinson Stadium home. For now, Toffees fans will have to make do with a clutch of new signings to whet their appetites, so let's find out who's starting...
Leeds United vs Everton
19:37After two seasons away, Leeds return to the top flight with a home match against Everton at Elland Road. They have had the chance to see the rest of the league in action first, with their fellow promoted clubs enjoying – or enduring – mixed fortunes; Sunderland were 3-0 winners against West Ham, while Burnley lost by the same scoreline at Tottenham. How will Championship winners Leeds fare?
Excitement and new faces at Elland Road
19:16 , Richard JollyLeeds have been one of the busiest clubs in the transfer market but only three of their summer signings start, in goalkeeper Lucas Perri, left-back Gabriel Gudmundsson and midfielder Anton Stach.
Of Everton's seven additions, only two do: Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Charly Alcaraz, who was at the club for the second half of last season anyway. It means Jack Grealish is on the bench, which is unsurprising given his lack of football for Manchester City in pre-season.
