Leeds United under-23 trip postponed following Storm Dennis aftermath

Leeds United's under-23 fixture against Burnley has been postponed following Storm Dennis over the weekend, the club has confirmed.

The Professional Development League clash was due to take place at Tameside Stadium on Monday, in what would have been a table-topping encounter between Carlos Corberan's Whites and the Clarets.

However, following a second consecutive weekend of stormy weather across the north of England, the fixture has instead been pushed to an as-yet unspecified new date.

It is the latest under-23s game to fall victim to circumstances outside of Leeds' control, following the issues brought by Storm Ciara one week prior, with the club forced to rearrange an existing home tie from Tadcaster Albion to York City's Bootham Crescent.

The Brewers' ground was gutted by flooding, leaving the club in turmoil over their future, with a crowdfunding campaign looking to help cover part of their recovery costs as they seek to survive the season.

As a result, Leeds have moved their clash north on the A64 to York, where they will face Wolverhampton Wanderers in the Premier League Cup on Friday following the damage sustained to the Global Stadium on the banks of the River Wharfe.

Corberan's young side meanwhile have been in imperious recent form, having battered Bolton Wanderers 4-1 at Thorp Arch last Monday, courtesy of goals from Niall Huggins, Liam McCarron, Jordan Stevens and Bobby Kamwa.

The under-23 team is undefeated since October and now lie second in the table, following their triumphant PDL title last term under the Spaniard's watch.
