Leeds United U23s star earns award nomination following Premier League 2 title success

Leeds United under-23s winger Crysencio Summerville's excellent recent form has seen him nominated for the Premier League 2 Player of the Month award for April.

The 19-year-old old winger only turned out twice last month, but put in impressive performances in the 2-1 win over Aston Villa that secured the Premier League 2 Division Two title and in the 1-1 draw against Fulham.

Mark Jackson's side completed their successful campaign with a 5-2 win over Burnley last Monday, with Summerville getting on the scoresheet for the sixth time this season.

His progress in recent weeks has been recognised by Marcelo Bielsa, who named him in the first-team matchday squad for the goalless draw against Manchester United.

Summerville's nomination comes from the Premier League's Football Development Panel after Premier League 2 club coaches nominated the best performances by opponents in each of their league matches, with this panel also deciding the winner.

The Dutchman will be up against Danny Cashman (Brighton), Josh Hawkes (Sunderland), Dilan Markanday (Tottenham), Ademipo Odubeko (West Ham) and Cole Palmer (Manchester City) for the award.

Leeds forward Sam Greenwood picked up the prize in September.
