Leeds United U23 vs Arsenal team news confirmed as Junior Firpo makes injury comeback

Leeds United U23s face one of their toughest tests in this new division with the visit of Arsenal tonight.

Sam Greenwood's former employers arrive at Elland Road sitting in third place, while Leeds United are seventh with three wins, three draws and three defeats in nine games this season.

The Whites are buoyed by the inclusion of Junior Firpo, who is expected to play 45 minutes on his return from injury.

It is one of the first instances this year where a first-team player has dropped into the U23 squad, largely due to injuries and the need for youngsters in the senior side.

Charlie Cresswell starts in central defence though, making a second Elland Road appearance this season, after his man-marking job on Michail Antonio in the 2-1 Premier League defeat to West Ham United last month.

He captains the team this evening.

Greenwood does start in the No. 10 against his old club, going up against former teammates such as Zak Swanson and Folarin Balogun.

Joe Gelhardt is left out of tonight's U23 squad altogether, along with Cody Drameh after their midweek appearances for the first-team against Arsenal in the Carabao Cup.

The senior side face Norwich City in a hotly-anticipated Premier League fixture this weekend.

A select number of these U23 players will expect to be included in that travelling party.

Leeds United XI: Klaesson (GK), Moore, Cresswell, Kenneh, Firpo, Bate, Jenkins, Greenwood, Miller, Summerville, Dean

Subs: Van den Heuvel (GK), McKinstry, Hjelde, McCarron, McGurk
