Leeds United U21s team news as Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins feature against Southampton

Darko Gyabi and Sonny Perkins will start for Leeds United's Under-21s as they try and go top of the Premier League 2 Division 2 when they face top-of-the-league Southampton U-21s tonight.

Paco Gallardo is set to lead the team out for the first time after being appointed as the U-21s head coach following Michael Skubala's permanent swap to the backroom staff of the senior squad.

Against the Saints tonight, it's Dani van den Heuvel who starts out in between the sticks for the young Whites while James Debayo replaces Diogo Monteiro who starred last time out against Aston Villa's U-21s in an otherwise unchanged back four of Kris Moore, Jeremiah Mullen and Connor Ferguson.

Gyabi returns for his senior squad duties for the clash against the Saints alongside Morten Spencer who retains his place, while Charlie Allen and Joe Snowdon return to the starting XI after being held back by Brenden Aaronson and Georginio Rutter last time out.

Top goalscorer Mateo Joseph is also in alongside Perkins as the pair will look to find the back of the net once again in a Whites shirt.

Other than substitute goalkeeper Harry Christy, the young Whites bench is full of new faces from the Aston Villa clash, with Connor Douglas, Cian Coleman, Luca Thomas and Charlie Crew all looking to make an impact later into the match.

Leeds United Under-21s: Dani van den Heuvel; Kris Moore, Jeremiah Mullen, James Debayo, Connor Ferguson; Darko Gyabi, Morten Spencer; Charlie Allen, Joe Snowdon, Mateo Joseph; Sonny Perkins.

Bench: Harry Christy, Connor Douglas, Cian Coleman, Luca Thomas, Charlie Crew.
