Leeds United TV and rugby league host Emma Jones shares embarrassing mishap

Leeds United TV and rugby league host Emma Jones has shared the story of an embarrassing mishap from her time working in radio during the early days of her career. Jones, who now hosts 'The Official Leeds United Podcast', presents Championship rugby league and works alongside Jermaine Jenas on MOTDx, started her journey in broadcasting behind the microphone hosting breakfast programmes for Hull’s Viking FM and then Stoke’s Signal 1 until 2019.

At Signal, Jones worked alongside another fellow BBC host John ‘Foxy’ Fox, who now presents his own show on BBC Radio West Midlands and also hosts a podcast called Crunch & Roll. Fox recently invited Jones onto the show to reflect on the times they spent working together a few years ago.

During their conversation on the podcast, Fox picked out a specific segment from their old show, entitled 'live from your drive.' This would entail the show being broadcast from a new driveway each day.

However, on one occasion, Jones was missing in action until a mysterious car horn went off at 6:15am in a residential part of town. Fox said: "And then suddenly, in her Mr Motivator outfit, Emma comes bounding through the motorhome door saying, 'Right, I’m sorry guys I'm a little bit late, the traffic was unprecedented.' And we were like, 'Was that you beeping your horn?'"

As the pair struggled to contain their laughter, Jones explained that the honking horn had been caused by her chest pushing against the hooter every time she got out of the car.

She laughed: "So, when I drove my little BMW 1 series, I am one of those people who like, kisses the steering wheel when they drive.

"But that meant when I got out, you know, everything was towards the steering wheel, so I would accidentally knock the horn with my, erm, breasts."

Jones joked that it used to scare her to death, adding: "And it used to scare the s**t out of me!"

As her fellow guests continued to laugh away, Fox continued: "Every morning, we’d hear, ‘beep!’ And we’d know Emma was there, just getting out of her car."
