Leeds United transfer spend on Firpo, James, Harrison and more sees 62 per cent rise in agent fees

Agent fees rose by 62 per cent at Leeds United in the year ending January 31 as more than £4m was added to the previous year’s bill. Between February 2, 2021 and January 31, 2022 United spent £11,396,947 on agents who facilitated transfers across last summer and this winter’s windows.

For the 12 months previous to that, which included the summer and winter windows immediately after promotion from the Championship, United spent £7,034,943. Despite the rise, the Whites are in mid-table when compared with their top-flight rivals.

Manchester City lead the way with more than £35m for the 12 months ending this January, while Brentford spent the least with a fraction under £3.5m. The average bill for the entire division was just over £13.6m, meaning Leeds are still spending less than most of their rivals.

That £11m-plus bill for agents included deals which brought Junior Firpo, Kristoffer Klaesson, Daniel James, Jack Harrison, Lewis Bate, Leo Hjelde and Mateo Joseph to the club since the start of last summer.
