Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites to offer Patrick Bamford new deal, Michael Olise twist

Life in the Premier League is probably better than what the majority of Leeds United supporters could have expected after so long out of the division.

The Whites have showcased Marcelo Bielsa's highly entertaining style of football every time they've gone onto the pitch this season and have backed it up with some brilliant results.

However, Bielsa's team have shown some weaknesses at times and the Argentine boss could look to address some of these issues this month.

The January transfer window is upon us, and it's a chance for some new faces to arrive at Elland Road and help the Yorkshire-based club finish the season strongly.

In light of this, here is the latest round-up of Leeds-related transfer stories and rumours.

Bielsa draws on many positives his side displayed today

New deal for Bamford

Leeds are set to offer Patrick Bamford a lucrative new contract to try and persuade him to stay at Elland Road, according to a report from The Sun.

Bamford has scored 10 Premier League goals so far this term and has been one of Bielsa's standout players in the early stages of the campaign.

However, the 27-year-old has just 18 months remaining on his current contract and the Whites are fearing that rival clubs could make their move.

So, Leeds are now planning to meet with their striker's representatives and offer him a new deal to stay in Yorkshire beyond the conclusion of his current contract.

Palace lead Leeds in Olise race

According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are ahead of Leeds in the race to sign highly-rated Reading midfielder Michael Olise.

The Whites have been linked with a move for Olise in recent months, following his fine form for the Royals in the Championship.

Bielsa tried to sign the 19-year-old over the summer, according to reports, but a deal never materialised, leaving other clubs with a chance to land the teenage sensation.

Now, Palace are slightly ahead of Leeds in the battle to complete the signing, and the report claims that Reading will need to brace themselves for potential bids in January.

Leeds monitor QPR goalkeeper

Leeds are keeping a close eye on QPR goalkeeper Seny Dieng, after his impressive form this season, according to a report from The Sun.

The Whites currently have Illan Meslier in between the posts for them, and the young Frenchman has impressed this season in the Premier League.

However, there could be a slight adjustment to the goalkeeping ranks under Bielsa, with the report claiming that Dieng could now be a target.

But the club are not alone in their admiration of the Swiss shot-stopper, with Arsenal and Crystal Palace also monitoring his progress.
