Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites tipped to sign Man United defender, battle for left-back

Leeds United head to Manchester United on Sunday afternoon, with Marcelo Bielsa's side looking to make it back-to-back Premier League victories.

The Whites beat Newcastle United 5-2 on Wednesday night, as they returned to their brilliant best in front of goal.

The fixtures are coming thick and fast for Bielsa and his squad, but with the January transfer window about to open, the manager could be tempted to look in the market.

Here is the latest round-up of the latest Leeds transfer stories and rumours.

Whites set for Bjorkan battle

Leeds are interested in signing Norway defender Fredrik Andre Bjorkan in the January transfer window, according to a report from TeamTalk.

However, the Whites are set to face stern competition for the 22-year-old, with Celtic, Brighton, Newcastle, Bournemouth and Norwich also keen.

Bjorkan looks set to leave Norway after helping Bodo Glimt to the title this season, with his contract at the club expiring in 12 months' time. Celtic have already held talks with Bjorkan, with the Scottish champions speaking to him earlier in the year, but ultimately, they failed to complete a deal.

Whites tipped to sign Rojo

Kevin Phillips believes Leeds should look to sign Manchester United defender Marcos Rojo in the January transfer window.

Rojo has not featured at all for the Red Devils so far this season and looks set to leave Old Trafford in one of the upcoming transfer windows.

Speaking to Football Insider, Phillips said: "I think Newcastle, Leeds and a few other clubs will be looking at Rojo.

“I am sure there would be a lot of clubs on tracking him but Leeds is an appealing club at the moment. It is a big gamble going from United to Leeds but players are not bothered these days. Logistically it might work for him."

Tomori perfect fit for Leeds

Chelsea defender Fikayo Tomori has been linked with a loan move to Elland Road in recent weeks, and Michael Brown believes the centre-back would be a perfect fit for Leeds.

However, it has recently been reported that the Blues would prefer Tomori to move to French outfit Rennes, rather than the Whites or Newcastle - who are both keen on the 22-year-old.

Brown told Football Insider: “It would be (a great match), I think if they could guarantee him games, it’d be one to watch. They might feel as well that he would benefit, he might get some games so yeah, I think it’d be something you’d want to watch, if that could happen.”
