Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites target urged to join Rangers, Costa rejects Premier League

Marcelo Bielsa is on the verge of being able to divert his full attention to the summer transfer window.

Already guaranteed a top-half finish, the Whites conclude their first term back in the Premier League today (4pm) when they take on already-relegated West Brom.

Of course, it's a clash which marks the return of Leeds supporters to Elland Road, following the easing of Covid-19 restrictions. Around 8,000 fans are expected to attend.

Beyond that, it's shaping up to be a busy summer for the Argentine manager and figures responsible for incomings and outgoings at the club.

Here are the latest transfer rumours as Bielsa prepares to step up his summer recruitment drive.

Moreno urged to join Rangers

Santiago Moreno has been urged to turn down the bright lights of the Premier League - specifically Leeds - and pursue a move north of the border.

The 21-year-old America de Cali forward is thought to have alerted the attention of the Whites as well as Scottish champions Rangers ahead of the summer transfer window.

Valued at around £5million, the Colombian has scored four goals and laid on as many assists this season.

Speaking about the Leeds target, former Rangers defender Alan Hutton said: "It's difficult. The lure of the Premier League is absolutely huge, massive. I'm just trying to think in his shoes, you're going up against some of the best players in the world week-in, week-out, in the strongest league. Let's face it, Leeds are an excellent team. They're not going to be fighting relegation. They're looking to be top 10 and build.

"It's a massive opportunity for him, but on the flip side of that coin, you can go to Rangers. They've got a fantastic, young manager at the moment. They're looking to go forward and win trophies. Hopefully, they'll be playing in the Champions League. It'll be a real tough choice, but hopefully, for me, I want him to pick Rangers."

Costa set to return to Brazil

Douglas Costa is set to return to Brazil with Gremio this summer - ending the prospect of a would-be pursuit from the Whites and fellow Premier League side Wolves.

The 30-year-old emerged as a possible target for Leeds as they aim to build on an impressive top-half finish back in big time - following promotion from the EFL Championship last summer.

However, the former Bayern Munich forward - whose registration is currently with Italian giants Juventus - has put pen to paper on a 'free loan' move.

Costa, who has been capped 31 times by his country, featured just 11 times for Bayern in the Bundesliga after sealing a temporary return to the club last summer.

'Leeds should sell striker Roberts'

Tyler Roberts is the type of player Leeds should be looking to sell if they are to reach the next level - according to former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor.

The 22-year-old has scored just once in the Premier League this term and has been forced to play second fiddle to the likes of England hopeful Patrick Bamford - the club's top scorer.

Newcastle United are thought to be monitoring the situation of Roberts ahead of the window reopening.

Agbonlahor told Football Insider: "Leeds are going to want to improve as a squad - they're going to want to bring players in and go to the next level. They may look at letting him go and signing somebody else. It just makes sense, you either give him a new contract or sell him.

"If I was Leeds, I'd probably sell him and add that money to the other money you've got."
