Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites target Ajax defender and Liverpool's Raphinha interest

Here are your Leeds transfer rumours on Friday, October 15:

Agent confirms Liverpool interest in Raphinha

Leeds United’s Brazilian star Raphinha was bound to attract interest from Champions League clubs and the rumour mill has really kicked into gear now, not least thanks to the player's agent.

Speaking to Globo, the 24-year-old's agent said: "Raphinha has become an important player in the Premier League, the club knows he has grown and things will happen naturally.

“He's young, he has many challenges ahead, there are certainly several clubs that like him, and Liverpool do like him, there were surveys, but nothing official.

“Leeds wanted to keep him for another season.”

Leeds rumoured to be eyeing right-back

According to a report by Football Insider, Leeds are eyeing up Ajax defender Noussair Mazraoui.

With Leeds’ first-choice right-back Luke Ayling, 30, currently out injured, the report suggests the 23-year-old Moroccan is on the radar as a potential target for the future.

Mazraoui has played for his country a dozen times and played in the Champions League for Ajax.

Though don’t get too excited as over recent days he has also been rumoured to be a target for Arsenal, Roma, Barcelona and Manchester City. Perhaps someone's been busy drumming up interest.

Former Leeds player says he may head for home

Pontus Jansson, who played for Leeds from 2016 to 2019, said he may head back to Sweden if his contract with Brentford is not extended at the end of the season.

The centre-back is a key player for Brentford, having been deemed surplus to requirements at Leeds by Marcelo Bielsa in 2019, but he has yet to sign up for more years with the Bees.

He started his career at Malmo FF and according to SportWitness wants to end his career there, saying: “At the moment, I have a contract for nine months and am free to talk to other clubs in three months. So Daniel Andersson [Malmö’s director of sport] can deliver in such cases.

“One day, I will play for Malmö FF.”
