Leeds United transfer rumours: Whites handed Ryan Kent blow as European clubs circle young defender

Leeds United were at the centre of the Super League drama on Monday in their 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

The Whites drew criticism from Jurgen Klopp for their pre-match shirts which read 'football is for the fans'.

Outside of the fiasco of a breakaway league, Leeds United once again competed against the Premier League's finest which bodes well for the summer transfer window.

Despite all the off-field drama, the rumour mill continues to swirl around Elland Road, with reports about incoming players and potential transfer targets.

With that in mind, here's a recap of the stories filling the back pages across the day.

Kent set to snub Leeds

Ryan Kent will decline a move to Leeds United if the club makes a third attempt to sign the winger.

The Whites were interested in signing Kent after Kemar Roofe's exit in 2019 before he moved to Rangers and reportedly made an enquiry last summer.

Football Insider state that Kent has said he wants to remain with the newly-crowned Scottish champions for at least another season, under the stewardship of Steven Gerrard.

Kent is a nominee for Scottish player of the year after scoring 12 goals and registered 13 assists.

Urhoghide race heats up

Club Brugge and Sporting Lisbon have joined Leeds United in the race to sifn Sheffield Wednesday youngster Osaze Urhoghide.

The 20-year-old, who can play right-back or centre-back, is out of contract with the Owls this summer.

Wednesday's impending relegation to League One could see Urhoghide leave the club, though Yorkshire Live report the defender has been offered a new contract.

Leeds are said to be admirers of Urhoghide and now European outfits Club Brugge and Sporting Libson have reportedly joined the race.

Fleetwood sign Leeds youngster

Fleetwood Town have confirmed that they have signed Leeds United youngster Connor Teale.

The 18-year old young defender had made several appearances for Leeds’ Under-18s side this season.

Teale will work under former Leeds boss Simon Grayson at Highbury Stadium, having signed a contract that lasts until 2023 with an option to extend the deal
