Leeds United transfer rumours: West Ham's Frederik Alves move hijacked, Lovro Majer race

Leeds United return to Premier League action this evening, as they travel to high-flying Aston Villa.

The Whites were beaten for the second time in the league on Monday, as Wolves took all three points at Elland Road.

Despite the defeat, it’s still been an encouraging start to the season for Marcelo Bielsa, but the Argentine could look to do even more business in the January transfer window - which opens in less than two and a half months now.

Here are the latest Leeds-related transfer rumours.

Whites look to hijack Hammers move

Leeds are preparing to hijack West Ham United’s move for centre-back Frederik Alves, according to Danish outlet BT .

How Leeds United are expected to line up tactically against Aston Villa

Alves has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Hammers, but the report states that the Whites are still hoping to sign the Denmark U21 international.

Bielsa’s side are still in the picture, despite having a summer bid that was rejected by his parent club Silkeborg.

As well as the Premier League pair, Alves is a target for FC Rostov and Dinamo Zagreb.

Leeds interested in Croatian playmaker

Leeds are one of numerous clubs interested in Dinamo Zagreb midfielder Lovro Majer, according to Calciomercato .

As well as the Whites - AC Milan, Fiorentina, Borussia Dortmund, Valencia and Sevilla are all also interested in the 22-year-old.

Majer is open for a new challenge, away from the Croatian league, as he seeks to play more competitive football - the report states.

The Zagreb attacking midfielder has been likened to Real Madrid and Croatia star Luka Modric in the past.

Villa failed to sign Phillips in 2019

Aston Villa boss Dean Smith has opened up on his team’s failure to sign Kalvin Phillips away from Elland Road just over a year ago.

Following Leeds’ play-off defeat to Derby County, Phillips was linked with a move away from Yorkshire, with Villa interested, and their manager has spoken on the matter.

Smith said to Birmingham Live: “He was on a list of players that we were interested in.

“As far as I was aware, it never got past the initial talks stage with the price-tag they wanted and rightly so if you look at their season last year and what they’re doing now.”
