Leeds United transfer rumours: Target to leave Liverpool, Illan Meslier set to sign

Leeds United will be playing Premier League football next season, and like most promoted sides, will be looking to bolster their options.

The Whites’ fantastic performance in the Championship means that Marcelo Bielsa will be likely to trust some of his players as they make the step up to the top-flight.

However, there have been several names linked with a move to Elland Road, as the club make their eagerly anticipated return to the Premier League.

With that being said, here are the best Leeds-related transfer rumours from today.

Meslier set to sign

Illan Meslier’s entourage are expected to arrive in England in the ‘coming days’ to finalise the ‘final details’ of a permanent transfer.

Meslier joined the Whites on loan from FC Lorient last summer and his deal is believed to include an ‘automatic purchase option’ in the event of his side securing promotion.

And now according to Foot Mercato - via Sports Witness - Meslier is expected to sign a three-year deal with the Championship winners.

Larouci to leave Liverpool

Leeds United target Yasser Larouci has allegedly come to the conclusion that he has to leave Liverpool.

Goal.com is now reporting that the young full-back has come to the conclusion that he needs to leave Liverpool this summer in order to play regular first-team football.

Larouci has been linked with the Whites as well as Brentford since the news broke last week that he could leave Anfield this summer.

Bielsa to hold contract talks

Marcelo Bielsa is now reportedly due to have talks with the club over his plans and potential extension of his stay.

Leeds United chief executive Angus Kinnear hopeful that the Argentinian boss will extend his commitment to the cause.

“I think he’s fallen in love with the club, I think he’s committed to it. I actually think he was committed to the Championship,” he said.

“He has a review, he knows the direction he wants to take the club in and it’ll go from things we need on the playing side right through to changes he wants to be made at Thorp Arch and the backroom staff.”
